Not everyone has a Bret. I get that. But even if you don't have a direct line to a grower, you can still be smart about what you're smoking. Start with the basics. Use your senses.

Smell it. If it has a strange, chemical-like odor, walk away. Good weed should have a rich, complex aroma, not something that reminds you of a hardware store.

Look at it. If the buds look dull, overly dry, or have weird spots, that's a red flag.

Light it up. If it sizzles when you spark it, don't smoke it. Properly cured cannabis burns smoothly, and the ash should be light gray to white. Dark ash? Just say no.
